The challenge
A classic Hazlemere story: a lovely south-facing conservatory on a 1970s detached home, abandoned from June to September (too hot) and November to March (too cold to heat affordably with an electric radiator).
The owners had considered a glass-roof replacement quoted at over £6,000, which would have helped the summer problem but done nothing for winter.
What we did
A single Daikin 5kW wall unit sized for the glass area and southern orientation, mounted on the house wall inside the conservatory, with the outdoor unit screened by planting at the side of the house.
Survey on Tuesday, installed the following week in under a day, including condensate drainage and app control setup.
The result
Cool through the summer heatwave and heated for roughly a quarter of the running cost of the old electric radiator in winter.
£805 fixed, around an eighth of the glass-roof quote, and the owners report it's now where they eat breakfast year-round.
