The challenge
A typical 1930s three-bed semi: master bedroom and second bedroom unbearable on summer nights, a south-facing lounge that bakes from mid-afternoon, and a box-room home office where work grinds to a halt in a heatwave.
The family had two quotes already, £7,200 and £7,900, both for three rooms only. They'd shelved the idea as unaffordable.
What we did
One Daikin multi-split outdoor unit on the rear gable wall, serving four indoor units: Perfera units in the lounge and master bedroom, Sensira units in the second bedroom and office.
Pipe runs hidden in colour-matched trunking down the rear elevation, all four rooms commissioned and app control set up on both parents' phones.
The result
Four rooms, not three, for £4,485 fixed, around £3,000 less than the cheaper of the two quotes they'd received.
Cooling all summer, and the office and lounge now heat for pennies in winter through the same units, with the boiler staying off until evening.
